Jim Bauer: Home
NEWS
JANUARY 2012: Jim Bauer and Pulitzer prize-winning playwright NILO CRUZ ("Anna in the Tropics") have been commissioned by PREMIERES to work together in creating a new one-person short musical for the Premieres "Inner Voices" series. Performances of the new piece will be presented in NYC in Spring 2012.
DECEMBER 2011: Jim has begun work on the script for DAGMAR: EXO, a new musical theater experiment based on the DAGMAR song cycle he's been working on since 2005. The music - a genre-bending blend of meta-folk and sub-elektronica that Bauer calls "folktronica" -- is being produced in collaboration with U.K. engineer/producer ROBBIE BRONNIMANN, DAGMAR percussionist DAVID ROZENBLATT, and long-time singing/performance partner MEGHAN McGEARY. The show tells the story of a guy who can't get out of bed in the morning and an insect goddess who plunges through the ether to rescue him. Turns out, she's more than just a goddess. Taking place in 2050, it's an environmental apocalyptic tale with a happy unhappy ending. Humans are gone, and the bugs, as long predicted, are taking over. The hope is to present first developmental productions of the multi-media show in 2012.
